Skip the crowded coach buses. Travel Ireland the way it should be seen, in a luxury Mercedes with a local driver-guide who knows every back road, every story, and every great spot for an Irish coffee.
Hello there, and a warm Irish welcome. I’m Gerry Murphy, and for over fifteen years I’ve been driving visitors from all over the United States across the length and breadth of Ireland. If you’ve only got 48 hours and want to see the very best of this little island, you’re in the right place. Pull up a chair, let me tell you what a proper 2 day private tour from Dublin really looks like.
These are the three routes my American visitors ask for most often. Each one can be tweaked to suit your interests, that’s the joy of a private tour.
Dublin on Day 1. The Wicklow Mountains on Day 2. Your private vehicle, your pace, and a driver-guide who has covered every road between the two since 2010.
Two days, a private Mercedes, and a driver-guide who knows every turn of the Antrim Coast. You cover Belfast, Carrick-a-Rede, and the Giants Causeway without a single stranger on the coach or a clock rushing you back.
I’ll be straight with you. There are bigger tour companies out there with slicker websites and louder marketing. But here’s what I offer that the big lads simply can’t match.
When you book through gerrymurphychauffeurservices.ie, you’re not getting a random driver assigned by some office in Dublin. You’re getting me, Gerry Murphy, or one of two trusted drivers I’ve personally worked with for years.
I’ve personally driven every corner of this island, from O’Connell Street and The Spire in Dublin, down to the Dingle Peninsula, up the Antrim Coast, and across the Wild Atlantic Way. I know the shortcuts, the scenic detours, and the quiet spots the coach buses can’t reach.
You travel in a top-spec Mercedes V-Class with leather seats, climate control, and panoramic windows. No strangers beside you, no queuing for the loo at every stop.
Every itinerary is built around your group, your interests, and your pace. Want to add Glendalough, the Wicklow Mountains, or a stop at Bunratty Castle? Grand, we’ll make it happen.
My guests come from New York, Boston, Texas, California, the Carolinas, you name it. The 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor and Google speak for themselves, but my proudest moments are the repeat customers who book me every time they’re back in Ireland.
We don’t do “be back at the bus in 22 minutes” nonsense. We stop where you want, for as long as you want, at places I’d happily take my own family.
I’m Gerry Murphy, born and raised just outside Dublin, with family roots stretching back to Kilkenny and Cork. I started driving private tours in 2010 after years working in the hospitality side of things, and I’ve never looked back. My passport stamps are nothing compared to the miles I’ve put on Irish roads.
I’m fully licensed by the National Transport Authority, certified by Fáilte Ireland’s tourism programme, and I carry comprehensive passenger insurance for every trip. But more than the paperwork, what I bring is a genuine love for Irish history, the Wild Atlantic Way, traditional music, and a good laugh. My guests usually leave with a few new stories, a few recommended pubs, and at least one Irish phrase they didn’t know before.
You’ll see my photo on the website at gerrymurphychauffeurservices.ie, and you’ll see the same face waiting at your hotel lobby on the morning of your tour.

A 2 day Dublin tour is exactly what it sounds like, two full days exploring Ireland with Dublin as your starting and finishing point. You’re picked up at your hotel on morning one, you stay overnight in a lovely town somewhere along the route, and you’re back in Dublin by the evening of day two. It’s the sweet spot for American travellers who want more than a quick day trip but don’t have a full week to spare.
Now, if your schedule is tight, day tours from Dublin can absolutely give you a taste of Ireland in just 10 to 12 hours, places like Glendalough, the Wicklow Mountains, or even a long push to the Cliffs of Moher in a single day. But honestly, two days lets you breathe.
You’ll see more, drive less, and actually sit down for a proper dinner in a country pub. If you’ve got even more time, 3 day tours Ireland visitors love include the Ring of Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way, and a swing up to Belfast, that extra day really opens things up.
The big difference with my service is that this is a private 2 day tour, just for you and your group. No strangers. No 50-seater bus. No “be back at the car park in 22 minutes” nonsense.
When you book with me, here’s what’s included as standard, no upsells, no surprises:
What’s not included is your overnight hotel, your meals, and entrance fees to paid attractions. I’ll happily book hotels for you at my trade rates if it makes life easier.
Absolutely, yes. That’s the whole point of a private tour. Before your trip, I’ll send you a short questionnaire, what interests you (history, music, food, scenery, whiskey, family roots), how active you want to be, and any specific places on your bucket list. I’ll then design an itinerary just for your group, and we can still tweak things on the day
For US passport holders, no separate visa is needed for short visits to Northern Ireland. It’s part of the United Kingdom, while the Republic of Ireland is a separate country, but both are in the Common Travel Area and your US passport is grand for tourism in either. Just bring your passport with you on the day, I always remind my guests the night before
On most 2 day tours, you’ll be in the car between 4 and 6 hours a day, broken up into short stretches between stops. I always plan for plenty of breaks, bathroom stops, photo stops, coffee stops, and proper sit-down meals. You’ll never feel stuck in the car for hours on end.
Of course. Many of my American guests start with a 2 day tour in mind and stretch it to three days once they hear what’s possible. A 3 day tour Ireland route lets us combine, say, Cliffs of Moher with the Ring of Kerry, or Northern Ireland with Donegal. Just ask me when you enquire and I’ll put together a few options for you.
